Building Nebraska's Communities From The Soil Up
Living Soils, Clean Water, and Healthy Communities
Living Soils, Clean Water, and Healthy Communities

I am a 5th generation family farmer from Oakland, NE. My family homesteaded the land we still farm today back in 1867. In order to stop erosion, we have been adopting the 6 regenerative principles, and are witnessing profound changes. I plan to share my lived experiences as the new board member for the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District in Subdivision 7.

I am running for the board of the Lower Elkhorn NRD because I want to see more serious dicussions on healthy soils and clean water. I believe farmer-based solutions like cover cropping and buffer strips are being overlooked and are not completely understood even though those practices are fundamental to living soils and clean water. I feel I can bridge this gap, and we owe it to the next generation of Nebraskans to move quickly.

Besides my lived experiences in transitioning our farm to regenerative agriculture, I also have state and nationwide networks which I use to compare notes. By sharing my experiences, and learning from others, I continue to gain important knowledge which can help me bring more innovative solutions to the conservation goals of the Lower Elkhorn NRD.
Your support and contributions will help me advocate for healthy soils and clean water.
